One of the most wonderful ways to explore the gardens, grounds and stunning countryside around the hotel is in the company of these wonderful birds of prey on one of our falconry experience courses.
You will have the opportunity to fly four or five different raptors (eagles, owls, buzzards, hawks and falcons) as a good introduction into falconry, taught by a fully-trained falconer, Gary Swainson.
The experiences are run all year round and are very hands on, given by one of the best falconers in Scotland from the award-winning Lockerbie Bird of Prey Centre.
Each falconry experience from the half day to the full day course involves meeting, handling, learning about and flying these beautiful birds. There really is no more life enhancing & exhilarating experience than interacting with them in their own habitat. We cater for everyone from the absolute beginner to the experienced enthusiast and all those in between.
Not only do you get to fly these magnificent birds but you will learn all about them as well. All hands on.
For lager partys we can also provide Falconry Demonstartions & displays.

The first thing is a hawk walk around the woodland bordering the Hotel where you will fly one of the Harris Hawks and see how these birds will follow on through the tree tops and return periodically to the fist. On returning to the Gardens you can expect to fly birds such as Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Turkey Vulture, Common Buzzard and Bateleur Eagle, and watch as a Falcon is flown passing at 150 miles per hour within inches of you. The day is broken up with lunch at the hotel
