Fly fishing on both Loch & River are available within easy reach of the hotel, whether you require a two day trip or a whole week. Trigony House Hotel started life as the hunting and fishing lodge for nearby Closeburn Castle, it maintains links with its past through the warm welcome it still extends to fishermen.

Salmon & Sea Trout fishing on the river Nith
Fly fishing for Salmon & Sea Trout on 3 miles of the river Nith can be booked through nearby estates. Gillies can also be arranged to give tuition or just an introduction to the river. The season starts in spring with the Sea trout and goes on to the end of November with the Salmon, prices range from £30 - £55 per rod per day.
At Trigony we can arrange fly fishing on local Lochs for Rainbow trout & native Brown Trout in beautiful surroundings within easy reach of the Hotel, either on the bank or with a boat, from March until the end of November.

A day on Morton Castle Loch (8 acres) with a boat
Set beneath the Ruins of Morton Castle, it has a boat house and boat equipped with oars, row locks and anchor. Stocked with quality Rainbow Trout, it also contains wild Brown Trout. This Ticket entitles you to fish from dawn till dusk, and includes the hire of the boat. You can also take a Ghillie out with you for the day on this Loch:

Fly fishing Lessons on Slatehouse Loch
(2 acres)
Situated in the Parkland of Drumlanrig Castle. This small Loch is ideal for beginners. Fishing from Piers under the knowledgeable eye of our friendly expert Ghillie.
A day's tuition on Slatehouse Loch including tackle hire:

Starburn lies within the Drumlanrig Castle estate, and Morton is Set beneath the Ruins of Morton Castle both are stocked with quality Rainbow Trout, and also contain wild Brown Trout.
